"Where there is no vision, the people perish..." - Proverbs 29:18 KJV
If I were to ask you, "What is the meaning and the purpose of your life?" what would you say? If I ask you, "Why do you exist? What is the reason and the purpose of your existence?" what would you say? The majority of people cannot answer any of these questions. In 2020, the world saw the catastrophic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, but there's a more dangerous pandemic that has been affecting the globe for hundreds of years and, it's the pandemic of lack of purpose and meaning in life. The majority of people have no sense of meaning, purpose and direction for their lives. The person who lives life without a clear sense of personal purpose will always struggle with an aimless and misdirected life. The Bible says it clearly, "where there is no vision, the people perish."(1) The danger of living life without a vision is that it will cause you to "perish." The word perish means to suffer complete ruin, destruction or experience a very violent death. The greatest source of suffering within the human heart is its own lack of vision and purpose. A person without a vision lives a very destructive and horrific life—a life of meaninglessness and purposelessness. Dr. Myles Munroe said it best when he said, "the greatest tragedy in life is not death but life without a purpose; it is better not to be born and not know life, than to be alive and not know why." Wow! What a tragic way to live! It's this very fact, the obsession and the purpose of my life. My life's purpose is to help others develop a meaningful relationship with God and to teach the principles of fulfillment.
People know—intuitively—that they were created for a purpose, but most cannot explain such purpose because they have no vision for their lives. It's really that simple. Please never forget this: the only reason why people—this might include you—do not know or understand their life's purpose is because they do not have a vision about themselves. This is why vision is so vital and so important in life. Vision is the only thing that explains what is your life's purpose and is the only thing that will bring you a sense of meaning and fulfillment. You will never be truly happy and feel completely satisfied in life until you work on your life's true vision. So what is vision and how do you receive such vision? Glad you asked! Hahaha. Vision is the God-given assignment that you were created to do that explains the reason of your existence. It took me nearly twelve years to put this definition of vision together and every single word is crucial! The reason why I work with my own definition is because the word "vision" today is very popular and is often used interchangeably with the word dream/s. To me vision and dreams are not the same. Vision is God-given. Dreams are self-given. Vision is purpose-driven. Dreams are ego-driven. Vision focuses on others. Dreams focuses on oneself. Lastly, vision always glorifies God. Dreams always glorifies man. Now, it is true, every person has one vision and many dreams. For instance, my vision is to teach this information to help others, but one of my dreams is to own an all-electric Range Rover—and who do you think benefits from that? Clearly not you once God helps me get it! But you are benefiting from this blog because is part of my vision. Simply put, a dream is everything you want and desire that only benefits you; a vision is everything you want and desire that only benefits others.
The purpose of all human life is the completion of a vision. We are all created by God for the purpose of completing an assignment on earth and that assignment is called vision. Vision is the single most important aspect to living a life of meaning, purpose and fulfillment. A person that has no purpose for life, is a person that has no vision in life. Vision is the understanding of your life's assignment that will give you a real reason for which to live your life. Have you ever wonder why every person on this planet seeks success? Why is it that every individual is born with the inherent desire to be successful? Because God created us to accomplish something. That's why! That urge in your heart, that sensation that you feel in your soul, that which makes you imagen and fantasies all night of doing something meaningful and special for your life, that is the assignment of God calling you. That cry in your heart that makes you dream and you wish you were doing, that is the reason why you are alive and exist! We were not created just to make a living and die. You are not supposed to die when you heart stops functioning, you are suppose to die when your assignment is finished. Most people will live and die never knowing or discovering their true vision. What a terrible way to live life. Please don't be one of them!
